I arrived at 1.30am and the night security guard was very helpful. My flight was also cancelled and that was not a problem for the owner/manager, he just transferred the booking to the next day. He also helped me get the local bus into central Delhi. Nice clean rooms too, but a little out of town.

I can’t say *too* much on the guest house either way, as I was only there for a short evening (between flights) - but I was very happy with the service I received and the simple, clean standard of the room. Very reliable option - especially if looking for a location closer to the airport.

They who runs this is an absolute gentleman, very genuine. Arrive early in the day if your not accustomed to India budget travel. A bit hard to find without help! Security strong, felt safe enough in area. Staff lovely but rooms were not cleaned to EURO hostel standard. That said good option for some cheap digs in Dehli!

great place to start an Indian adventure. I didn’t find the fact that it was an hour from the center of town a problem as the bus ride is always an adventure and sure to be funny! The owner, Pramendra, was a great host, helping with whatever he could. The food available was great and the staff always smiling. IT was such a lovely peaceful place to come home to after a hectic day of exploring Delhi! Thanks for everything!

An absolute gem! Staff delightful, service incredible. 3 veg meals a day, made freshly, very hot, tasty. Unlimited, free, cold, filtered water. I had no health problems here. Superb English. Thorough info about Delhi & India. I booked a very reasonably priced tour of Delhi. Internet, India map, books, newspapers daily in English, TV, guest kitchens w/refrigerators. Building & fixtures in good working condition. Guards at entrance 24 hr. Restaurants nearby.

Home Away From Home was delightful. The staff and the owner were hospitable and helpful. They made our stay in Delhi enjoyable and rich. The outer facade of the hostel was a little inconspicuous, and our taxi driver had a hard time finding it initially, but after that it was great. Tours of Delhi, trips to Agra can be arranged through the owner who really took care of us while we were there.

So your arriving in India. Nervous? it can be different. let Promendra and family take care of you and put you at ease advising you what are the best places to visit in India and not pushing tours on you only recommend! Hostel is not too far from airport 10 mins and you can catch a bus into central delhi from outside. They leave every 10 minutes. Promendra is a fountain of knowledge on his city and his country. Listen closely!

This hotel is ideal for female travellers needing accomodation close to the airport. It is, however, far away from most “tourist” sights and is not in a backpacker friendly district. The rooms are basic but very clean, and towels and linen are included. The staff are the high point. Mr. Pramendra (the owner) and his staff are all very helpful, talkative and friendly.
Temmy Bowler from USA stayed with us & this is what she has to say, as on our listing page on www.hostelworld.com, as on 20th of April, 2008

Although a little further out of town than some places this hostel offers a clean and safe place to relax away from the craziness that is Delhi. All the staff are very friendly and is you take the time to ask, Pramendra is a world of knowledge and can point you in the right direction or help you organise any type of tour that suits you. I would definately recommend Home Away from Home to anyone.

Security is the main focus of this Hostel with a 24hour guard and reassuring bared windows. The bonuses are the wonderfully friendly staff and cheap yummy meals! The simple clean rooms are quiet. The location is tricky and we had problems with taxi drivers getting lost. The exterior could do with some signage of sorts.
Cecily McMahon from Australia stayed with us & this is what she has to say, as on our listing page on www.hostelworld.com, as on 14th of March, 2008
If you are a single woman travelling in Delhi this is the PERFECT place for you. Pramendra, the owner, is a kind, trustworthy, intelligent man who made me feel welcome and extremely safe. My plane arrived two hours late at midnight and he was still there when I got out. Thank you for making me feel so at home. I will definitely stay at your hotel next time I come to India. Thank you!!!

This was my first trip to India and had to be arranged at top speed. And I would be travelling alone. I’m used to that, but when I saw the entry for Home Away from Home on the Travellers Point I contacted them and booked for my first night in Delhi. A ladies hostel seemed sensible and interesting. I feel very lucky to have made contact with such hospitable people and Pramendra, who runs the hostel was a fund of information and energy, helping some stranded friends I bumped into on the flight, booking travel for us all and taking us to and from stations and airports. The other ladies in the hostel were quiet and dignified and the food was fabulous. Don’t miss this place if you are a lady alone or travelling with other ladies. It is a real find. Simple and sweet.

If you are a woman staying alone in Delhi, this is definately the place to stay! What is lacks in the convenience of being close to the action, it makes up in security, which is very important in Delhi. The owner is extremely customer service focused, and bends over backwards to do everything he can to make sure you have a safe and pleasant stay. If you ever feel like you are over your head in this city, he is accessible. The hostel is very clean and secure, with posted security guards and locked lockers for your convenience. As my two-day stay turned into seven days, using Delhi as my focal point to visit Agra, and Goa, I always felt like I was going back home between trips. The owner provides pickup at the airport and drops to inconvenient places (like the bus tour at 5:30 a.m.) when it would be difficult and scary to get a taxi. If you want to feel security knowing someone has your backside, try Home Away from Home. Home Away from Home is absolutely the right name for this place!
Richard B.Scott from England stayed with us alongwith his son & daughter & this is what they have to say, as on our review page on www.tripadvisor.co.uk, as on 13th of February, 2008
Great Service and Accommodation for Ladies Home Away From Home - This is a very secure establishment for women travelers to New Delhi.
This is a family run hotel consisting of 4 floors, the top two floors are reserved for permanent resident student nurses and physios, while the first two floors are rented out to female tourists.
Pramindra is a perfect host. All the best qualities of India (innocent, kind, thoughtful) with all the experience of someone who has had considerable dealings in western countries (efficient, prompt, reliable, excellent english) and is very well educated.
It is very clean, plain, good value accommodation not far from the airport and Pramindra will happily meet you inside the airport and drive you in a new microbus to his family’s hotel. Good meals are provided on request.
Pramindra secured very hard to find train tickets to Allahabad during the Mela, recommended great restaurants and tours and was a consistent source of good information. Internet access is available and one of the trendiest shopping areas in New Delhi is just a short cab ride away.
Brian Young from Canada stayed with us & this is what he has to say, as on our listing page on www.hostelworld.com website, as on 5th of February, 2008
Great experience! This has to be the nicest, safest, friendliest hostel in India by far!!! Perminder the owner and all the staff were so accomodating. He helped me plan my whole trip, provided anything i asked. I would totally recommend this place for the service itself. The only negative was i had a room closest to the main street. It is very noisy so either request a room not on the main street or bring really good earplugs. The airport pickup costs about 100 rp more than a taxi at the airport, but is worth it since most of the taxis always get lost in Delhi. The location is a bit far from downtown, but the service/accomodating staff makes it definately worth the bus ride to and from town…will DEFINATELY use again!!

I highly reccommend staying at Home Away From Home in New Delhi. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean and the staff was very accommodating. They were also very concerned with the safety of their guests. It is hard to find for taxi drivers, but the owner will gladly pick you up for a very reasonable price. I would stay there anytime!!

Hostel is close to the aiport so is good when you arrive at the evening, but it’s one hour by bus to New Delhi. The owner is very friendly and helpfull person, he really worried about our (my and mine friend) safeness not only in hostel, gave a lots advices and information-really nice man.And in hostel I was feeling safty.

Home Away From Home is the best hostel I’ve stayed at. The service you receive exceeds all expectations, and Pramendra, the owner, speaks fluent English and is willing to go above and beyond to make sure you’re stay is enjoyable. India isn’t the safest place for women to wander around, especially alone. This is a great place to meet fellow travellers to explore the area with. I would definitely go back to Home Away From Home if I ever go back to New Delhi.
Amanda Sharpe from England stayed with us & this is what she has to say, as on our listing page at www.hostelworld.com website, as on 22nd August 2007
Home away from Home was a nice clean hostel with good facilities, the owner advised me that it has only opened recently. It is a female only hostel so i felt safe as i was on my own and the owner was very helpful. I only stayed one night in Delhi and the location was great for the airport (15 mins away). It is quite far out of the centre but the owner advised me which bus to catch, the journey takes approx an hour but was pretty simple and not expensive. There are a couple of really good places to eat locally as well. If you want either a short airport stop over or you are planning a long term stay in Delhi than this hostel would be ideal.
